Vocal Program Overview
Open to students ages six and up, vocal instruction is available for beginning through advanced students. It is the intention of FAITH Center that students who participate in our vocal programs will develop an appreciation for the unique instrument that God designed especially for them, a lifelong love of music, an appreciation and discernment for great music, and that through the disciplines of their study become the whole person that God created them to be.
Vocal Program (Choir & Voice Class) Objectives
1. Students will receive age appropriate instruction in the skills required to sing. These include: physical preparation (posture & body mechanics), breathing & support (inhalation, tone, phrasing) diction (vowels & vowel modification, consonant treatment), intonation & accuracy (vocal placement & listening skills), and musicality (vibrato, dynamics, style, expression.)
2. Study the standard choral literature in order that they may have the experience of the ensemble and conductor, learn the concepts of musicality, phrasing, application of style, historical techniques and ideas of the composer.
3. Appreciate the value of positive critique through performance and discussion.
